As a child of God, we are all called to a body of Christ to reside; that is the local church we are in. And there is no denial that there are many influences that compete to draw us away from the local church. With the advent of many excellent television ministries, we can be tempted to simply feed on the teaching they offer, while forsaking our relationship with the local church. The convenience of not having to dress up and go out can be tempting, especially if we stayed up late the night before, or have some projects we'd like to get started on (while we're watching TV).
Another trap that may caught us into is "church shopping." It is linked to the customer service mentality of the business world. This mentality can cause us to come to church expecting to be entertained…i.e. a powerful sermon, electrifying music, perfect climate control and comfortable pews. If the church fails to meet our expectations in any area, we can always go to the next church down the street and see what they're up to. Such "church-shopping" is a dangerous and unhealthy disease that can distract us from the most important reason for going to church – to worship God. Under the guise of finding the church "where God wants us to be," we can easily deceive ourselves (and others) about what we're really looking for.
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching"
Hebrews 10:24-25
One of the basic benefits of plugging into the right church is that we can give and receive encouragement, comfort and strength. As Paul explained, this occurs through the use of the spiritual gifts that God has given each of us. Since God gifts each person differently, meeting as a group provides a wonderful variety of gifts that meet the needs of the people present. Those who miss out going to the church will miss out on the benefit of the spiritual gifts that they desperately need (whether they know it or not). Like a beautiful tapestry, the assembled church with their gifts reflects the very glory of God.
There is no perfect church, because there are no perfect people. If you are striving to walk in purity you will need encouragement along the way from people who share your commitment to Christ. Take part in your church today. Be part of the Body.

Prayers from the Body:
Do keep Brother Darren and Sister Jia Ling in prayers as they continue to trust God for healing for their mother. God has kept them thus far, and we wanna thank God for His faithfulness. We know God is in overall control, and He is in full knowledge of each and everyone in the entire family. Let's stand together with them in this time of trying period and be such a support to them, that they may be filled with joy and courage.
Do be effort-ful in remembering our Os and As students who are facing this immerse stressful period of examinations and studies. It's coming to an end for many and we praise God that He has walk you through! Do pray for our uni students as they start their examinations. They do require alot of grace in this time as they need to strike a balance in other responsibilities. We know God is faithful, and He is our helper. So brace yourselves as you honour Him with your diligence, continuing to trust in Him. For He will not abandon you, nor forsake you:)
Let's remember our brothers and sisters who are far away from home in their respective places for work or school or training. We know God is all-present, and He is with us wherever we are. It is not an easy journey to walk without the close proximity of lvoed ones and friends, but we know for sure the presence of God goes with them:) Do pray for good health and strength over their lives and we hope to see you soon!
